  Some few days ago, I wore one of the gowns I used for my birthday celebrations to church and someone picked on me and said the gown was short and that I was dressed indecently to church. Well this said person can be funny at times but there was alot of seriousness with him, I smiled at his probelm and waved him off. Considering the fact, that he isn't the God who would and should judge me, he isn't my husband and he didn't get the clothes for me, besides I am highy comfortable with what am wearing hence I considered him one of those religious fanatics who is always looking out for faults to discredit others.   Indeed another 366 days.. I recalled my previous birthday this time last year, admits the turbulence of all that happened in October 2020. I asked God for 3 things ... Exponential connections ...   Two days before my birthday, October a month I cherished so much. Same two days before the planned visit to Abuja to see have the best moment for my birthday thanksgiving which was disrupted by the end sars protest which was hijacked by our political inclined beings. On this said ay, as I got excited and longed for my trip, with all arrangements in place, I went about posting online on the ongoing end sars protest against bad governance and the tied hands of its citizens. Recently, I encountered Victor on my way to the clinic around Yaba, he is such a charmer despite the fact that he is disabled yet he speaks fluently. We became friends based on the fact that each time I pass along his domain we exchanged pleasantries and I give him what ever I have to offer that day and tag along. One this particular day, I stopped by to have a chat with him because I am always marveled at how he speaks and interacts with people around despite being incapacitated. So, while we spoke I asked him why he dropped out of school and how come he got amputated on his leg, the crust of it all was that he lost his parents when he was in secondary school, on his way back from their burial he had an accident that took one of his leg and so he resulted to begging to make ends meet.   Often times I wonder why we go through so much pains than not most especially from the loss of one's partner as a woman. Take for instance in some igbo traditions, a woman is expected to even go through drinking bathing water from the husbands corpse to prove she has no hand in the death of her husband. Yet, there are so many outrageous conditions placed before her to prove her innocence, some are made to cross the husbands corpse, others are locked in a room with the dead corpse for a nigth, others are even taken to shrines to swore an oath. I wonder why any one would want to remain a widow, to live alone and take care of the children all by herself with the mindset of killing her partner for reasons best known to her.   Some days ago, i stumbled at an old friend's wall and I saw a lot of condolence messages on his wall, it was then I realised he lost his dad a day before. Then I went into his inbox to condole with him, so yesterday we spoke on phone, while I spoke with him i could feel the pain in his voice even though he was trying to be a man. While we spoke and I asked about the burial he wasn't even sure if he would be around for the burial because he is far off and what saddens him the most was that he didn't have the opportunity of having a last chat with his dad. I tried to console him and left him with words of hope and encouragement knowing that he will scale through this trying phase. When we ended the call, I went into my shell to see if I can understand what he is currently going through, then I recalled what he said while we spoke, he said, his grateful that he knows who his father was, that many don't even have an idea of who their parents was, so many lost theirs ...
